500 New Homes Planned For Weymouth

8:14am 9th October 2014

Plans to build 500 homes on Curtis Fields in Weymouth have been submitted to the Council.

The development is being proposed by Betterment Properties, but they're facing resistance from local campaigners.

The Society for the Protection of Markham and Little Francis was set up to protect the green space but failed in a bid to make it an official town green.

They have told Wessex FM they're preparing to fight the application.

Chairman of the group Gill Taylor told Wessex FM; "There's going to be a shortage of schools, doctor surgeries and libraries. Plus there's no employment land attached to it so I'm not sure where the people living in these 500 houses are going to work."
