It's survived two world wars and lasted over a hundred and sixty years but now the Albert Inn in Wkye Regis is finally coming to an end.
A Southampton developer is turning the historic pub into flats after plans were approved at a committee meeting today.
The West Dorset Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) protested against the move that would end any hope of the pub reopening.
Over 100 locals signed a petition calling for the building to be kept as a pub.
The decision on the plans was made by planners from Weymouth and Portland Borough Council today (October 15th).
Wyke resident and CAMRA member Alex Bardswell told Wessex FM; "It turned out they said they could only vote on what they had right in front of them so the plans had obviously gone right through without anybody having any other say in the matter"
