Quad Bikes Race Across Weymouth's Beach
8:42am 15th November 2014
Quad bikers from six to seventy will be roaring across the sand this weekend as Weymouth International Beach X returns for its second year.
Crowds are expected to pack out the Esplanade to enjoy the action and range of stalls at the free event.
Duncan Irons from O.R.E Events said: "The thing about Weymouth is the spectating here is fantastic! We've pushed up man-made jumps with diggers and we've got children riders from six years old on quad bikes and the oldest I think is 75."
Riders will be hitting speeds of 70mph, flying over Dare Devil jumps and weaving through Bomb Holes on the roughly one-mile long course.
On Saturday (15th November) it's the turn of the younger drivers who will be putting their 100cc Youth Quads through their paces and there'll also be some Adult Solo racing.
Sunday (16th November) sees the big boys take to the sand with the adult quad bike revving up along with the bigger 250cc Youth Quads on the re-vamped course.
The racing is in motocross style with short races on the 'Dry Sands'.
