Boxes For Barn Owls

Barn owl

(Updated 8:50am 18th November 2014)

8:47am 18th November 2014

Dorset Wildlife Trust have been overwhelmed by the public's response as dozens of people gave up their Saturday to help build shelters for one of our favourite wild birds.

Barn owl numbers have been falling in the county and the Trust hopes the 10 newly built roosting boxes will help turn that worrying trend around.

Work at their headquarters was so successful, the Trust had to bring in extra material to meet the high demand from the volunteers.

Emily Newton from the Trust told Wessex FM: "We've had an outstanding turnout! So we had the material for 10 boxes today and we're going to make 10 before the end of the day. We couldn't ask for more!"
