A local writer has been using life in Dorset to help put pen to paper to write and publish his first ever book.

17-year-old Connor Hansford has written a tragic romance about two teenage boys who fall in love, called 'Brutal People'.

He says the idea for the book began with a stroll.

The Budmouth College Student told Wessex FM: "I was walking with a friend home from Weymouth and we were crossing the stone bridge which separates Radipole lake from Weymouth Marina.

"I saw this boy staring quite despondently down into the water and I said to my friend how intriguing it was. Then I began to think I could make a story up about him."

Connor has also finished writing his second book  'A Christmas Gift' that is now being edited together.
