He's been training for four years and now a Wey Valley student is getting ready to put all of those gruelling hours to good use to compete at a national biathlon event.

11-year-old Ollie Sanderson qualified for the Biathlon Challenge in Birmingham that's taking place in January after impressing in competitions in London.

Ollie is also a member of the 'Gifted and Talented' support group at the school where he takes part in extra PE sessions.

He said: "The sport involved running and swimming and I take part in after-school clubs at Wey Valley as well as being a member of the Dorset Pentathlon club in Weymouth."

"I really enjoy the sport as it is a team event with some really good sporting colleagues."

Ollie is also competing in London later in the year at the Olympic park.
