Begging Still A Problem In Dorchester Town Centre

South Street Dorchester Town Centre

9:14am 28th November 2014

Dorchester Police are still dealing with reports of begging in the town centre.

They've been working closely with local businesses and have been using new dispersal powers to help reduce the problem.

They're urging people to remember not all beggars are genuine and are encouraging the public to give to registered charities instead.

The police are concerned that the increasing amount of shoppers in the town centre during this time of year could mean more people are being hassled rather than enjoying the town.

Those reported for begging will be appearing before court.

The Police are also reminding us not to give to beggars so it's not as attractive to stay in the town centre.
