The fight against Ebola comes to the streets of Dorchester again today.

The three Rotary Clubs of the county town will be collecting in South Street.

The proceeds will be sent to help alleviate the suffering of people affected by the present Ebola outbreak in Southern Africa.

The Rotary Club of Monrovia is in the capital of Liberia, a country seriously affected by Ebola. In the short term the African club's members are providing safety equipment for nurses along with transport, training and simple daily basic medical supplies. In the longer term the communities that have been destroyed will need rebuilding: a task that will take many years and one where Rotary, both locally and internationally, is uniquely positioned to play a major role.

Ian Dominy, the President of the Dorchester Rotary Club, said, "Our clubs have a long history of raising significant sums of money for both national and international disasters and whilst it is dreadful that Ebola has gained such a foothold in these African countries, we are pleased that we can work together again for such a worthy cause."

Members from the three clubs will be in South Street today where they will be pleased to explain how the money raised will be used to help and to receive donations.
