Mayor Of Portland Offering £100 For Badge's Return

Lady Mayor of Portland Badge

11:26am 10th December 2014

The Mayor of Portland is offering £100 from his own pocket for the safe return of his badge of office.

Councillor Robert Hughes lost the historic piece of the Island's history while he was walking from the Yachting Club in Weymouth to Debenhams on Saturday (6th December).

He's told Wessex FM it's devastating to lose something so important: "It's been through two World Wars and been worn by some wonderful Mayors through those years."

"I just feel dreadful after it fell off the chain."

The reward can be collected by handing the badge to Portland Council or into Weymouth Police Station.
