Could Volunteers Help Improve Health Services In Dorset?

Dorset Community Action

Published at 9:17am 12th December 2014.

Talks on how the volunteer sector in our communities can become more involved with health services are taking place at Dorset Community Action's AGM today (12th December).

Representatives from Dorset County Council and Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group will be talking to the fully booked meeting at 10:30am about how they see volunteers playing a greater role in these services.

Chief Executive Alex Picot says he wants some clear communication from the meeting.

He told Wessex FM: "What I am hoping is some dialogue on some of these questions like how can start engaging with the volunteer sector? What sort of opportunities are available to deliver better contracts? How do they link better with their GPs?"

"We want to answers to all of these very practical questions."

Harry Capron will give Dorset County Council's perspective from the Better Together Programme, and Phil Richardson, of Dorset's Clinical Commissioning Group will give an update on Dorset's Clinical Services Review.
