Masterplan A Greater Priority In Weymouth

Weymouth Clock Seafront

6:56am 22nd December 2014

Weymouth's moved up the ranks for key investment.

The Local Enterprise Partnership has now put the town's masterplan ideas 5th on its list of funding priorities.

Councillor Ray Novak looks after Economic Development for Weymouth and Portland.

He explains why the change has come about.

"By bringing different land owners together, put together they make a development site that's worthy of bigger potential in terms of housing and shopping. And that's what's caught the eye of the Dorset LEP because we are talking about new housing, new jobs and new investment in the town."

"We've got a fantastic beach, and amazing front of the town but we've also got a few pockets of land that look a bit rubbishy. We have been contacted by a few developers.  We are not going to get everybody's dream but at least this gives us an opportunity to get together and share everybody's vision for Weymouth."
