Charity Cash Windfall After Jurassic Coast Walk

Published at 7:13am 22nd December 2014.

Dorchester 's Weldmar Hospicecare Trust are £ 3772 better off thanks to the efforts of brothers, one of whom lives in Dorchester.

Craig and Dean Murray raised the money by walking 47 miles of the Jurassic Coast between Swanage and Hardy's Monument along with four friends on 4th and 5th October 2014.

They decided to take on the challenge in memory of their mother, who was cared for by Weldmar Hospicecare Trust, as a thank you to all the staff.

Craig, who lives in Dorchester, said: "She got on so well with all the staff there, who were so kind to her. We just wanted to give something back to say thank you. They rely so much on donations and it seemed like an important thing to do. My brother works with Reading police and he had a friend and colleague who were keen to get involved. When we first started talking about it our friends wanted to help, and it's really nice to have that support."

Matt Smith, Events and Challenges Fundraiser for Weldmar, said "Everyone at Weldmar Hospicecare Trust would like to thank Craig, Dean and their friends for supporting Weldmar Hospicecare and raising a fantastic sum of money".
