Record Breaking Year For Dorset Historic Churches Trust

Published at 7:41am 23rd December 2014.

Fundraisers have been riding and striding towards a record-breaking year after they raised almost £80,000 for Dorset Historic Churches Trust.

Ride+Stride is the main source of income for DHCT with around 200 parish and church communities taking part throughout out the year.

By visiting the county's churches on foot, bike or even horseback they raised £3,000 more than last year that will go towards funding vital repairs at Dorset's churches.

Simon Pomeroy, Chairman of DHCT said: "We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part in this year's Ride+Stride event."

"We are thrilled with the amount raised, which will allow us to continue helping to preserve beautiful churches across Dorset for future generations to enjoy."

"The repair works we help fund are often desperately needed and we rely on fundraising activities and also donations from the Friends of the Dorset Historic Churches Trust to make our work possible."

The fundraiser has been running since 1991.
