Dorchester Prison has been sold.

City & Country have bought the site along with three other former prisons. They are a heritage property development company.

Wessex FM broke the news two weeks ago that a deal was close to being made, and now the buyer can be revealed.

City & Country have told as at this stage they have no fixed plans for redevelopment - as they want to talk to local people and key stakeholders first.

Helen Moore, Managing Director of City and Country told Wessex FM: "We recognise the importance of these buildings at the heart of their local community.  We will start the process in the New Year, which will ultimately lead to future planning and listed building applications that breathe new life into these historic buildings and bring them back into a long term, viable and beneficial use for the benefit of current and future generations."
