Warning Over Chinese Lanterns

Shed Fire

8:59am 26th December 2014

Dorset Fire and Rescue are warning us not to use Chinese Lanterns.

A stray one released for Christmas Day set light to two sheds and a fence in Weymouth yesterday.

Fire crews were called to Preston Road in Overcombe just after 7pm last night.

DFRS Community Safety Advisor Watch Manager Dave Allen who attended the scene said; "We recommend that members of the public do not use Chinese lanterns due to their volatility they can stray and pose a fire risk to members of the public, property and animals."
