1,000 Children In Dorset Still Without A Reception School Place

School Crossing

11:46am 8th January 2015

Over a thousand children in Dorset still haven't had their applications for reception school places submitted by their parents - with just one week left to apply.

If your child was born between the 1st September 2010 and the 31st August 2011 you have until the 15th January - which is next Thursday - to get their application in.

Dorset County Council says parents must apply now to have a chance of getting a place at one of their preferred schools.

Cllr Toni Coombs, Cabinet member for education at Dorset County Council, said: "With just over a week left to register, we want to make sure that parents don't forget to send us their applications."

"Starting school is a major milestone in a child's life and I cannot stress enough how important it is that families apply on time, as submitting an application late affects the likelihood of being allocated a place at their preferred school."

All the information, including an online application form, is available at www.dorsetforyou.com/schooladmissions.

Alternatively, families can call 01305 221060 for an application pack to be sent out in the post.
