The Party Shop In Weymouth To Close After 17 Years

The party shop weymouth

1:42pm 9th January 2015

A much loved family business in Weymouth, which has been kitting out party goers in fancy dress for the last 17 years is opening for the last time tomorrow. (Saturday 10th January)

Owner of the Party Shop in Abbotsbury Road, Jan O'Brien is retiring.

During her time in charge - she fought to bring back floats to Weymouth Carnival - welcomed celebrity shoppers and has worked to raise money for charity.

We asked Jan what she's going to miss most.

"We've got some really lovely customers who come back year after year and they're all really sad.  But they are also giving me a lot of well wishes as well, and I think they're the one thing I'll miss more than anything, but I am going away with some very happy memories of The Party Shop."

"We've been a strong supporter of Weymouth Carnival of many years, campaigning to get the floats back.  We've been highlighted on TV, supply costumes for the series of Come Dine With Me, which was filmed locally. We've also had Zane from One Direction and Perry from Little Mix as customers, with people camping outside the shop to find out when they were coming back."

And Jan had some nice words to say about Wessex FM.

"Wessex FM have always supported us in lots of things we've done, for charity events, and I've always said when you turn on Wessex FM is like turning on a friend, it really is true."
