Dorchester Carnival Will Go On

dorch carnival 2014

10:36am 12th January 2015

Dorchester Carnival has been saved.

A new team are now in charge of the county town's annual event which will be held on the 20th June.

It's after the round table stepped down after running it for the last 40 years.

Sandy Jordan from Jordans Jewellers is on the Carnival Committee - she says they need everyone in the town to get involved.

"The idea is to put on a really fabulous carnival for the town.  There's going to be a procession, and we would love for everyone to get involved and anyone out there who has a van, or a driver who would like to donate their time, that would be great too."

Sandy says she would also like to see more local business take part in the event this year.

"It's the local shops and businesses we want to get involved. That's not what we've seen in the past. So if you're a local shop or business and you have a team of people, just get everyone involved. Its run by the people of Dorchester for the people of Dorchester, so let's show everyone what we can really do."
