Dorchester Launches Top Of The Shops Competition

South Street Dorchester Town Centre

8:10am 14th January 2015

Dorchester's independent retailers are being asked to show off why they're “Top of the Shops”.

Dorchester Chamber of Commerce and Dorchester BID are putting on the first Independent Retail Awards for the county town.

Shops who enter the free competition will be spot-checked by a mystery shopper in the first week of February, to find out what makes their shop stand out.

Lucy Bowden from the Chamber said independent retailers need support like this.

She told Wessex FM: "Coming from an independent myself, I think it is really important we work collectively together and recognise we contribute a huge amount to the town."

"It's great to be recognised while we fight some of the chains that we see in Dorchester."

The competition is also meant to find new ways for local shops to improve as well as highlighting what they're doing well.

There are five categories that entrants could win, which are Best Customer Service, Best Window Display, Best Use of Social Media and Website, Best Newcomer, Best Individual Member of Staff and the Overall Winner.

To enter the competition contact the organisers, Spotcheckers on either 01202 331608 or mandy@spotcheckers.co.uk but there are a limited number of places so make sure you apply as soon as possible.
