Not The End Of The Road For Westham Cycle Lane

Published at 9:45am 16th January 2015.

Councillors have rejected plans for a contra-flow cycle lane along Westham Road in Weymouth.

The proposals had included widening the footway and would have been the last piece in our local cycling network.

But 'serious misgivings' were raised at Dorset County Council's cabinet meeting over safety concerns.

Director for Environment and the Economy at the County Council, Mike Harries says it's not the end of the plans.

He told Wessex FM: "There were concerns about the safety of mixed cyclists and pedestrians but we believe all those things can be overcome."

"So we'll just look at the scheme again and come forward with some slightly revised proposals."
