Portland Consultation Underway

Portland

Published at 6:55am 19th January 2015. (Updated at 7:07am 19th January 2015)

Three questions could change the very future of Portland Town Council, which is why they want to make sure people on the island have their say.

The council is holding a consultation on their budget and tax precept that is also asking if residents think the council should take on a bigger role.

Mayor Robert Hughes explained to Wessex FM why people should take part.

He said: "They are big issues and important issues especially with Weymouth Council emerging and moving to Dorchester."

"It's a future we have to look at to see if the people of Portland want the town council to take on a bigger role or not."
