Car Submerged In Pond Near Wool

Dorset Fire And Rescue Badge

9:43am 20th January 2015

A car's been discovered submerged in a pond near Wool.

Yesterday lunchtime (Monday 19th January) two fire engines from Poole and Swanage fire stations were mobilised, along with a speciailist water rescue team from Poole fire station.

On arrival, water rescue operatives were deployed into the pond to check for persons trapped within the vehicle or pond.  A full search confirmed that there were no persons trapped.

It's not known how long the car had been there.

Meanwhile, crews from Portland went to a vehicle fire inside a garage in Clements Lane, Fortuneswell.

On arrival, the Portland crews found a vehicle smouldering within the garage.  Firefighters removed the vehilce from the garage and used one hose reel to extinguish the fire.

The fire is believed to have started accidently due to an electrical fault, and resulted in fire damage to approximately 20% of the vehicle.
