The organisers of the weekend's march to save the Special Care Baby Unit and the Kingfisher Ward at Dorset County Hospital are vowing their protests will get even stronger.

On Saturday more than 1,000 people took to the streets of Dorchester to voice their anger and dismay at plans to move special care facilities to Bournemouth or Poole.

But a second march set for this coming Saturday at Dorchester Carnival has bene postponed.  It's due to concerns expressed by the Carnival Committee.  The protestors had wanted to walk behind the carnival but that plan has now been abandoned and a date for a new march will be set.

Organiser Nicky Dear told Wessex FM the fight will carry on.

"It will get through - we haven't finished yet.  This is just the start.  We will keep going until the message gets through.  This is just the start."

Another organiser of the March Naomi Patterson told Wessex FM the march's will carry on;

"They're going to continue for as long as the CCG continue with these proposals.  We'll keep pushing for answers to those proposals.  We're not going to stand by and let this happen."

Dorset CCG say no decisions have yet been made on paediatric services at Dorset County Hospital, and people will be able to have their say during a full public consultation later this year.
