A report by the Consumer Council for Water (CCWater) has named Wessex Water the best performing water and sewerage company for complaints for the fifth year running.

The CCWater report, which measures complaints per 10,000 customers, found that the number of written complaints the water company received continued to fall and was down by 4.5% in 2014/15.

Andy Pymer, director of regulation and customer services at Wessex Water, said:

"This is a good result and a demonstration of our commitment to providing the best possible customer service. We are delighted to have reduced the number of written complaints once again.

"We continuously look to go the extra mile for customers and on the few occasions where we don't get it quite right we take necessary steps to learn from mistakes and ensure it doesn't happen again."

Wessex Water has topped the customer service league tables for water and sewerage companies for seven consecutive years.

David Heath CBE, Western Chair for the Consumer Council for Water, added: "Wessex Water deserves credit for consistently reducing complaints year after year and continuing to set the standard for water and sewerage companies.

"The company has demonstrated again that it is not complacent when it comes to delivering a good service to its customers."
