Weymouth Care Home To Shut

Care South is closing its Mount Pleasant Home in Weymouth.

Care South is closing its Mount Pleasant Home in Weymouth.

Care South say its due to the expiration of the lease with Dorset County Council and they've held meetings with residents and their families to explain the next steps.

It's not yet clear where all the residents will be moved to or how many staff will be re-deployed at other homes.

There's also some confusion as to the decision to end the leasae on the property, which is owned by Dorset County Council.

In a statement to Wessex FM, Care South say ''We can confirm that Mount Pleasant care home will soon be closing

"Our paramount concern is for the well being of the residents and staff. We are working closely with Dorset County Council to ensure residents are supported and suitable new homes are found for them.

"We will also be supporting staff and consulting with them with regard to opportunities for them to continue their employment with Care South in other homes where possible."

But there are difference as to how the end of the lease is being explained.

Alison Waller, head of partnerships and performance at Dorset County Council, said: "We are aware of Care South's decision to close the Mount Pleasant home in Weymouth. We will be supporting families and residents to look for alternative accommodation."
