A MS sufferer from Piddletrenthide who's lifelong ambition was to reach Everest has done it.. well at least base camp nearly 17 thousand feet up.

Tony King and his wife Fiona flew to Lhasa in Tibet where they picked up their Royal Enfield motorbike and were part of a group of 10 from 4 different countries.

Tony says his medical condition ruled out any prospect of trekking, but he's happy with what he saw.

He says conditions were energy sapping, more than 20 degrees Celsius with very high humidity levels, as the monsoon season had only just ended. It had left many roads (more like tracks as he described them), wet, muddy and rutted from where 4 by 4's and lorries had passed through.

Tony says his medication helped him through coping with  his exertions in the thin atmosphere especially as he had not been long out of a 7 month relapse and quite vulnerable to illness.

Now back in the UK, Tony and Fiona are continuing to raise money for MS Charities. They're hoping to raise more than £3,000 from the venure.
