Weymouth College has been officially judged GOOD by Ofsted

Weymouth College has been officially judged GOOD by Ofsted.

It follows an inspection in November. This is the first time that Weymouth College has beed judged Good since Ofsted started inspecting Colleges in 2000 and represents a line in the sand for the quality of provision at Weymouth's, Portland's and South and West Dorset's further education college.

This judgement is the latest in a whole series of good news stories coming out of the college this year. Already the College has posted record achievement rates for 2014-15, has been acknowledged back in control of its finances, has been released from a Structure and Prospects Appraisal and has been taken out of administered status by the Secretary of State. Now comes this excellent Ofsted result.

Nigel Evans, Interim Principal at the College is delighted with the Ofsted judgement.

"Finally, after all these years of hurt and disappointment, Weymouth College can be acknowledged by the local community as a really "Good" College. What a tribute to the work of all of the staff and students! It is worth emphasising, Ofsted endorsed our self assessed grades for "Outcomes For Students" with some 80% of Weymouth College provision judged "Outstanding"!

Outstanding areas included A-levels, engineering, construction, health and social care, sport and public services as well as our foundation study area.

Grades awarded included Grade 2 Good for all aspects of provision including Apprenticeships, 16-18 study programmes, teaching, learning and assessment, as well as leadership and management and overall effectiveness. The report is full of good and positive judgements on Weymouth College provision.

Ofsted described our students as hard working, respectful, resilient, confident, have professional attitude to the working environment and are proud of their work - I think that is a fantastic testament to our students and to our staff. They is yet another great day to be Principal of Weymouth College.
