Goldhill Organics reaches finals of Fresh Produce category at the Soil Association Best of Organic Market Awards Ceremony 2016.

Goldhill Organics, the Dorset-based veg and meat box home delivery business, has been named as a finalist in the fresh produce category of the 2016 Soil Association Best of Organic Market (BOOM) Awards for its organic vegetable boxes. BOOM are the only awards dedicated to organic produce in the UK, and recognise the highest quality organic food and drink.

Now in its third year of trading, Goldhill is run by husband and wife team Jane and Nick Somper. The company offers home deliveries of organic fruit and vegetable boxes, and organic juicing boxes together with grass-fed meat boxes and a range of larder and local artisan produce.

Goldhill sources most of its organic vegetables from its home farm (Goldhill Organic Farm), which has been Soil Association Certified for over 25 years. Its vegetables are picked and delivered the same day to ensure real freshness and outstanding quality in every box.

Jane Somper said, "Reaching the finals of this award is simply fantastic, especially as it is the first time we have entered. The BOOM Awards are the Oscars of the organic world and we couldn't be more proud that our work and our wonderful produce have been recognised in this way. Goldhill works very closely with some truly outstanding Dorset producers. Being a BOOM finalist is a national acknowledgement of the quality of their food and we are delighted to be able to fly the flag for Dorset on their behalf."

Recent Soil Association research showed that organic box schemes and independent organic enterprises grew by 8.2% in 2015.  With growth driven by an increase in social, ethical and environmental values these consumers are increasingly choosing organic because they want to know the origins of their food and buy products with quality assurance standards.

Now in their 30th year the BOOM Awards celebrate the people and businesses, from farmers to caterers to brands, who work so hard to make a difference and to change the UK's food system for the better.

The 2016 Awards were judged by an expert panel of food critics, restaurateurs, broadcasters and chefs, including Melissa Ward (Product Development Manager, Marks & Spencer) Paul Barrett (Brand Manager, Fyffes) and Rachel de Muth (de Muth's Cookery School). The panel blind tasted each entry with products rated for smell, texture, appearance and taste.
