Chalets at Greenhill in Weymouth which were damaged in a fire have been restored to their former glory.

Chalets at Greenhill in Weymouth which were damaged in a fire have been restored to their former glory.

Two were completely destroyed in the blaze at Greenhill Gardens in December last year, and three were badly damaged.

The Borough Council has been working with local firm Hammond Building Contractors to sensitively restore the structures.

Cllr Andy Blackwood, Weymouth & Portland Borough Council’s Community Facilities Briefholder, said: “We are pleased to have been able to rebuild and restore the chalets that were damaged in the fire and return them to the licensees for use again. We would like to thank them for their patience while the work was carried out.

“As these chalets are historic structures and it was our duty to make sure that we built them back to their original state to the best of our abilities, which is not a quick job.

“The Greenhill chalets, as well as our other chalets along the seafront, are important features of the borough so we are glad to have them reinstated.”
