The new principal of Kingston Maurward has been outlining his vision for the college, as he settles into the hotseat.

Luke Rake has been telling Wessex FM of his plans to ensure the quality of education continues at the highest level and that students are ready for work upon leaving.

He said: "Learners have to be happy, enjoy what they do and learning skills which they can use immediately. The college has a fantastic reputation for getting students into employment. A very high percent leave our college and go straight into employment.

"It's a glorious campus. An absolute jewel in terms of the Dorset landscape. The gardens around here are beautiful so it's a fantastic place to work".

Back in June, Chair of Governors, Jim Tirrell, made this announcement,

"Governors are pleased to announce that Mr Luke Rake will take up the role of Principal of Kingston Maurward College in August.

"This follows the impending retirement of the current Principal, Clare Davison, who has done such an outstanding job at managing the College over the last 7 years.

"Luke comes from a background in further education, including successful experience of senior management in a high performing land-based college. Governors are therefore confident that the College will continue to prosper and grow under his stewardship."
