Kids in Weymouth and Portland who have a great idea for anything from a business to an event could see their dreams become a reality.

A new ideas league is being launched later this month.

Youngsters who come up with new schemes can post them online and the most popular will be chosen to move forward.

Teacher Baron Miles who's behind the scheme explained to Wessex FM how the project will work:

"Once they have their idea they can put it online, and that can be voted upon by members of the community. We're linked with Crowdfunder who are supporting the venture. We have our own campaign page when we launch. For small businesses, there's business funding, there's business in the community. There's lots of places where you can get funding, so its making sure we know where that is and we can direct people to the right place."

Jason West is from Weyforward who are backing the project he says having a business mentor could be make all the difference:

"If a child is coming from a background where parents are not that interest in education, they might not achieve as well as they might do. But if they have a mentor and a project that involves them learning lots of new skills, that could change a child's life."

The Ideas League will be officially launched at Weymouth Pavilion on the 28th September.
