A West Dorset organic farm has been shortlisted for a prestigious award for its asparagus!

Bothen Hill are up for best fresh organic product in the BOOM awards run by the soil association.

The Farm owned by the de Greef family in Bothenhampton has been providing Bridport with local organic vegetables for over 15 years.

Their asparagus has become exceptionally popular, being sold at Bridport Street Market on Saturdays during the season, in addition to being found at Modbury Farm, Fruits of the Earth, Washingpool Farm, Millers Farm Shop at Kilmington, Ammonite in Lyme and Green Valley Farm Shop in Godmanstone.

It is also available at Bridport Farmers' Markets and direct from the farm, together with their other home-grown seasonal vegetables on a Friday morning.

The BOOMs celebrate the whole organic market including products, places and people. Whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner or even your favourite tipple. From apples to courgettes, Liverpool to London, the BOOMs are about shouting about the organic products - and people behind them - that Brits just can't live without.

The categories have been judged by a panel of industry experts, high profile chefs, bloggers and writers with a passion for great food and the awards ceremony will take place at Borough Market in London in July.
