We're being asked to help say goodbye to an old sailor from Weymouth.

Fred Mills sadly died last month aged 79.

He lived in sheltered accommodation and has no known family.

Former Portland Mayor Sandra West thinks Fred may have served on HMS Resolution and was involved in the Christmas Island Nuclear Tests.

She's asking people to go along to his funeral which is being held tomorrow at Weymouth Crematorium.

Sandy told Wessex FM: "No one should face their passing alone. So I am asking those of you are free on Wednesday please come and say goodbye to this old sailor. He gave his all for us. I will be attending #supportingthenavalfamily. Thank you."

Fred's Funeral is on Wednesday 15th November, 1.45pm at Weymouth Crematorium.
