Police Car

9:27am 6th December 2017

Dorset farmers are being urged to lock up their agricultural equipment.

The warning from Dorset Police comes after two trailer thefts.

Both were taken from farms near Dorchester.

The first trailer theft happened between Friday 1st December and Monday 4th from a farm near Dorchester.

The trailer is described as a 16ft galvanised Buffalo trailer with metal greedy poles down the sides and a rear ramp.

The second trailer theft happened between Sunday and Monday, also from a farm near Dorchester. The trailer is described as a 8x4 ft 'Wessex Trailer' with double wheels and a wooden shelf over the trailer bed.

Dorset Police Rural Crime Team said: "We are appealing to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area around Dorchester between the relevant times to please contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk, via email 101@dorset.pnn.police.uk or by calling 101. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

"We're also keen to hear from anyone who has witnessed any suspicious vehicles in the area over the last week or knows of the current whereabouts of both trailers then we would urge you to report this.

"We would also like to take this opportunity to remind owners of trailers and agricultural equipment to lock it up and out of sight. It is worth considering fitting wheel clamps, tracking devices, property marking products and alarms to areas where equipment is stored."
