The container was filled with a large number of plastic buoys and other materials.

Three fire crews from Weymouth and Portland attended the scene.

Firefighters gained control of the fire quickly, nobody was hurt, and the fire was restricted to the contents of the container.

A spokesman for the port said they will now undertake a review of the incident to understand the cause of the fire and assess the response to it.
