Nightclub Doorman spots man in the sea

weymouth lifeboat night

9:27am 12th February 2018

Weymouth lifeboat was launched in the early hours of Sunday after a nightclub doorman spotted someone in the water off Weymouth Beach.

The alarm was raised at 4.15am.

Police asked the coastguard to launch the lifeboat over fears for the person's safety.

By the time crew arrived the casualty had made it back to shore.

A spokesman for Wyke Coastguard said: "It was reported that an intoxicated male had ran in to the sea opposite the Boom Box night club. Bouncers informed us on our arrival that he had exited the water and left the scene."
