Man dies after being hit by a falling boat in Weymouth

A man's died after a tragic accident at a boatyard in Weymouth.

The incident happened at 12.43pm yesterday afternoon at a boat yard on Nothe Parade used by eymouth Sailing Club.

A boat had fallen on a man, attempts were made to save him but he sadly died.

Dorset Police say the man who died was local and in his 50's.

He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

His family have been told.

The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance was called to the scene:

A police cordon was put in place.

A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 12:30. We attended with a helicopter, an ambulance, an operations officer and a rapid response vehicle."

The Health and Safety Executive have now launched an investigation into what happened.

An HSE spokesperson said: ‘We are aware and assisting the police with their enquiries.’
