Drax: Money for repairing Weymouth harbour walls is 'essential'

Weymouth Harbour

6:56pm 13th June 2018

Richard Drax used Prime Minister's Questions today to ask her to support improving flood defences here.

He said: "This work is essential. If planning permission is to be granted it will redevelop an important retail and housing area in the resort, thereby safeguarding existing jobs, creating new ones and providing more homes."

In response Mrs May said: "The scheme that he has referred to is on the list of projects that is being considered for the £40m fund. It's intended to support high risk communities and we anticipate a decision will be made by summer 2018."
