2:52pm 17th July 2018

A woman's been hurt after falling from her horse as she road along Dorset's coastline.

Emergency services were called out to East Bexington just before 8pm last night.

Solent and West Bay Coastguard teams were asked to help out due to her location.

The 53 year old had fallen between West Bexington and Abbotsbury and after being assessed was picked up by the Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 175.

The rider was then transferred by ambulance to hospital, with suspected injuries to her pelvis.

A spokesperson for West Bay Coastguard Rescue Team said,

We wish her a speedy and full recovery.

When horse riding on the coast, make sure you are fully prepared by taking a fully charged mobile phone, adequate warm clothing, appropriate safety equipment and water.

Using a free smartphone app like ‘OS Locate’ would also mean you could give an accurate grid reference to emergency services, drastically cutting down the time it takes for help to get to you."
