Portland Community Venue to hold Family Fun Day

Its a chance to look around the new facilities.

Islanders are being given the chance to find out all about Portland Community Venue.

It's holding a Family Fun Day on Saturday 30th March so Portlanders can see the new facilities.

The venue is located at the old Brackenbury school site at Three Yards Close.

The project lead for the new centre is Portland Town Councillor Susan Cocking; "This building belongs to the people of Portland" she said.

"It's for the whole community, however young or old and we are thrilled to showcase it with our Family Fun Day."

'New facilities'

The venue, which is owned by Portland Town Council, has been rejuvenated using LEADER grant funds and has generated a multi-purpose community facility. The Allsorts nursery and the Drop in youth centre are already active at the venue, with other rooms available to hire out including a large hall with a fully equipped kitchen.

'Fun Day'

The event will run from there will be plenty of fun activities for the whole family to enjoy including a bouncy castle, craft stools and information from local groups who are keen to keep everyone up to date on the services and developments of the island.
