Two Dorchester care homes rated 'good' by the Care Quality Commission.

  • Agincare's Badbury and Maumbury homes in Dorchester were inspected in January.
  • They say it's the result of the hard work of staff.
  • Over the last 3 years, they've invested £500,000 into a major refurbishment programme.

Residents and staff at its Badbury and Maumbury care homes in Dorchester are celebrating the CQC's assessment.

The CQC monitors and inspects care services to make sure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety, and they publish what they find to help people choose care. The Commission inspected the Dorset-based care provider's Dorchester care homes in January. Inspectors judged both the Weymouth Avenue homes as 'good' in all areas: safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led.

Agincare CEO, Raina Summerson said:

"Our teams are rightly very proud of their 'good' CQC ratings. The homes have been through some challenging times, but this rating is testament to their dedication to helping every resident feel happy and cared-for? We're proud of them too and thank them for their hard work and commitment, and the excellent residential, respite, reablement and dementia care they give to residents every day."

The CQC recognised that the homes have improved significantly over the past two years. The inspectors found Maumbury to be somewhere people are treated with dignity and respect and supported by kind staff. And at Badbury the inspectors appreciated the home's open and positive culture and the caring, kind and approachable staff.

Ms Summerson continued:

"We've invested significant time and effort into both homes over the past three years, plus £½ million on a major refurbishment programme. It's been a long journey, and it's gratifying that our belief and teamwork have been rewarded by a 'good' rating. But we won't be resting on our laurels. Our aim is for Badbury and Maumbury to be real homes for life at the heart of the Dorchester community for many years to come."
