It's one of just five in the running.

Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has been shortlisted for a healthcare efficiency award.

It's one of only five trusts in the country in the running for the category in the CHKS Top Hospitals awards, which celebrate the success of healthcare providers across the UK and are awarded to organisations for their achievements in quality and improvement.

The healthcare efficiency award recognises organisations that have achieved high standards of operational excellence and which outperform their peers on a range of 13 efficiency indicators that support care quality and patient outcomes. These include waiting time for initial assessment, average length of stay and number of procedure cancellations.

Tracey Francis, from the awards team at Capita Healthcare Decisions said: "Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust should feel proud to be shortlisted for this healthcare efficiency award as it highlights the exceptional work and care that it consistently provides."

The other shortlisted trusts are Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust and Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust.

The awards will be held in London on the 12th June at the Royal College of Physicians.
