Suspicious incidents in two Dorset villages

Man knocks on doors asking for petrol.

Dorset Police say there've been reports of suspicious incidents in two villages near Dorchester.

The first incident happened in Bockhampton on Saturday, (18 May) when a man knocked on a door and said he'd broken down and needed petrol. There was a delay in the door being answered, during which time he was heard to go into the log store before knocking the door again. He had parked at the end of the drive, apologised for bothering the resident and drove off.

The male was described as very tall, slim build, with close cropped blond hair, blue eyes and stubble growth. Several other neighbours had a similar encounter.

The car was pale gold with double round rear lights.

A similar incident happened in Stinsford yesterday (22 May).

The man was reported to be carrying a green petrol container and had a similar description.

Dorset Police say any suspicious circumstances can be reported by calling 101 or on the Dorset Police website via the "Contact Us" section .
