The organisers of Dorset County Show have announced their chosen charity for 2019.

They'll be supporting 'Mosaic' who help bereaved children in Dorset.

Dorchester Agriculture Society have been fundraising throughout the year.

Mosaic aims to develop a Dorset-wide network of bereavement support specialists for children, young people and their families, as well as working collaboratively with local partners in order to provide a framework of services.

Margaret Hannibal, CEO of Mosaic, commented: "Mosaic supports children and young people throughout Dorset who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or loved one and are finding it difficult to understand and express the overwhelming emotions grief can bring.

"Without fundraising from the public, we would be unable to work with these young people. We are delighted to be chosen as the beneficiary of the Dorset County Show this year and thank everyone who has made this possible. The money raised will really make a difference."

The charity will have a stand at the show for anyone who wishes to donate or find out more about the services Mosaic provides across the county.

Rebecca Hill, chair of Dorchester Agricultural Society, added: "Mosaic provides a valuable support service to children and young people in the county, so we are honoured to be raising vital funds to aid them in their mission of creating a child-centred service.

"We have been fundraising throughout the year so far and will continue to do so for the remainder of 2019."

Last year, Dorchester Agricultural Society raised £16,500 for Dorset County Hospital Charity's Cancer Appeal. The funds raised helped create a Cancer and Haematology Outpatients Department, and a new Radiotherapy Unit at the hospital.
