A new showroom, workshop and offices for local firm Dean and Reddyhoff Ltd has been approved at Mereside on Portland.

The application is for a 7,400 square metre site at the junction of Mereside and Hamm Beach Road, Osprey Quay, previously used as part of the former naval tank ‘farm’.

The new home for the local company will provide parking for 157 cars, 3 goods vans, four motorcycles and also have two disability spaces and room for eight cycles.

Most of the workshop site is to be used for general industrial use for metal cutting, boring and machining equipment.

It will feature a boat showroom and office close to the northern side of Mereside. A large part of the site area is proposed to be given over to winter boat storage.

The development will see the workforce grow from 54 full time jobs to 59 with five part time staff.
