Pre-school in Dorchester bids farewell to manager of 30 years

Playgroup Manager Cheryl Graham has worked at Grove Pre-school since 1989.

But, after over 30 years in Early Years education, Cheryl has decided to retire to spend more time with her family. It is believed she has seen over 1500 children go through the pre-school during her time at The Grove.

Cheryl was presented flowers and gifts from the all the children, staff and committee members and the Mayor of Dorchester, Cllr Richard Biggs attended to celebrate with Cheryl.

Cheryl said:

"It has been an honour and a privilege to be part of The Grove for the last 30 years.

"It has been like having a second home and huge extended family and I have truly enjoyed every minute of it. I am really looking forward to spending more time with my family especially my grandchildren.  

"Thank you to everyone I have met along the way and will I take away many happy memories."

There was also a 'thank you' for Cheryl's husband, Clive who has helped over the years by coming in to keep the garden and bungalow safe and sound for the children by putting up sheds and shelves and many DIY and maintenance tasks around the building.

Playgroup Deputy Manager Claire Bowen, who will take up the reins from Cheryl in September said:

"We are so sorry to see Cheryl leave The Grove. She has given so much to the setting and the children who have attended over the last 30 years. We are really going to miss her."
