Climate campaigners hold Weymouth day of action

'Think of the mess we're leaving our children', says one Extinction Rebellion spokesperson.

Today, Extinction Rebellion are holding a 'climate crisis' day of action in Weymouth Town Centre today. 

They're warning if we don't act now, the town could be threatened by rising tides.

What's happening in Weymouth Town Centre today?

From 10am , activities and events throughout the town will address the issues like rising sea levels and the climate and ecological crisis.

At 3pm Extinction Rebellion are organising a march through the town centre, ending at St. Mary's Church.

St Mary's Church will be hosting a People's Assembly - a forum for opinions, discussion and any questions about Climate change.

Gail Quilter, local resident and member of Extinction Rebellion said:

"The impact of this human induced climate crisis is already on our doorstep. For us here in Weymouth, this will mean a rising tide level within the next few decades and if we take no action, it will mean the disappearance of our town. 

"We must act now. Think about the mess we're leaving for our children if we don't."

Dorset Council and Weymouth Town Council have declared a climate and ecological emergency.
