Drugs, cash and mobile phones seized in Weymouth

Published by Faye Tryhorn at 8:45am 15th September 2019.

They were found during a 'stop and search' in Portland Road, with one man arrested.

The search was carried out by officers from Dorset's dedicated County Lines team, thanks to some intelligence passed on to them.

We're told a 'substantial amount' of suspected Class A drugs were discovered.

A 48 year old local man has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.

He remains in custody while police enquiries are ongoing.

WHAT IS COUNTY LINES?

This kind of drug operation sees criminals spreading their activity from big cities across into other counties.

They often target vulnerable drug users in less urban areas to 'help them' with the crimes.

Anyone with information about drug supplies in Dorset is asked to contact Dorset Police by emailing 101@dorset.pnn.police.uk or by calling 101.
