Climate protesters in Dorset join worldwide day of action

Members of 'Portland Extinction Rebellion' and 'Portland 4 The Planet' are holding activities today.

They'll be on the Causeway this morning, with a march to the green near Victoria Gardens at midday.

An all-day event is also being held at The Portland Community Venue.

Throughout the morning  they'll be FREE kids entertainment, with placard painting, flag making, and face painting.

Activities Include:

  • 9.30 am: Free yoga and meditation class.
  • 11.00 am: Rights of Way paths workshop with Portland Ranger, Sheila Ryan
  • 12pm - 2pm: Rocking with live musicians and learning songs with Su for the October Rebellion
  • 2pm - 4pm: Talks about local community projects, an introduction to Extinction Rebellion and meet two of the prominent organisers of the London Rebellion.
  • 6pm: People’s Assembly, giving everyone the opportunity to share their ideas on how to prepare our youth and tackle the climate crisis locally.
  • 7pm: Biodanza class.

Meanwhile, Local teacher Ed Moore will representing Damers First School at a special event at the House of Commons today.

The focus will be on plastic pollution and Ed will be telling guests what pupils at the school have done to tackle the problem.
