Ironman 70.3 is back today bringing thousands to the area.

The race kicks off with a 1.2 mile swim in Weymouth Bay at 7:00am.

The swim is followed by a 56 mile bike-ride, and finishes with a 13.1 mile run to Weymouth Pavillion.

Even if you're not taking part as an athlete, you can still enjoy the day by supporting those who are.

Dean Smith is the Race Director. He's urging us to show up and help the Ironmen and Ironwomen.

"It's enormous, particularly when you get to endurance events like this where they're going for many hours with your mind playing tricks on you and just generally feeling tired.

"There will be people starting to think if they can complete it or not and that encouragement, a bit of praise for doing so well for getting there is huge."

Here's a map of the route, if you'd like to support. Support wisely and safely, and stick to areas where the route passes through town's and villages.

We're particularly being encouraged to cheer as the runners make their way to the finish line at Weymouth Pavillion.

You can find a map of the full road closures and opening times here.
